yes, that is my beautiful face.
so, now that we've all got our no-reply status in order [you fixed it, right???], let's talk some more about commenting!
yeah, yeah, I know. we're reaching the point of beating a dead horse on this subject. but I promise this is the last blog talk about comments!
this week’s talk is on the subject of blog lurkers. confession: I am one. I have that horrible tendency to read a blog post, enjoy it, and then leave the site without commenting. sometimes it’s just because I can’t think of something to say in response [because not all posts prompt comments, y’know?], but there are also those moments where I actually have a comment to make but just don’t. chalk it up to laziness, maybe? I try really hard to leave comments, guys. I do. as a blogger myself I know how much comments are appreciated. but sometimes I really have to force myself into it: I’ll leave the blog post open as a tab in my internet browser for hours and hours and hours just as a reminder that I want to say something. I don’t know what it is about the act of typing words, but sometimes it just seems really exhausting. or maybe I’m just ridiculous.

I know, based on a comparison of my statistics and my received comments, that a lot of you out there are blog lurkers [don’t worry, there’s no judgment here]. my lurker friends, I would love to “meet” you! so today I’m inviting all of you to come out of hiding for just a bit and say hi. introduce yourselves! I want to get to know my blog readers just a little bit better. look, I’ll even provide a prompt:
a] your name
b] your location [if you feel like sharing – it can be as specific or as vague as you feel comfortable]
c] your blog [if you have one]
and let’s see, how about something fun…
d] song[s] you love to crank and belt as you drive.
of course this is open to those of you with whom I regularly interact as well; we’re not exclusive around here.
oh, and here’s another fun FYI for those of you who like to read non-Blogger blogs! have you noticed that when you leave a comment on Wordpress or wherever else you get that sad little generic avatar next to your name, instead of a picture of your face? yeah. there’s a quick and easy fix for that! check out Kate’s post from back in November about setting up a Gravatar, if you have a moment.

I am not a lurker here. In fact, you're probably sick and tired of me. But I do the open-tab-because-I'll-come-back-to-it-later thing too! and then I look up and have 2946438303 blogs open waiting for a comment and I give up and close out the whole window :(

OOOOOOOHHHHHOH! Living on a prayer!
Love that you included the gravatar tutorial because I have so many blank faces in my comments! I try not to lurk as well, but holy crap commenting can be time consuming and when people have captcha I just want to scream!

GUILTY! I am that person lurking in the internet shadows reading blogs and rarely having something witty to say, although I write a blog that I find to be rather entertaining, I fear leaving comments like "Oh, looks fun!" so I just leave!
I'm Elizabeth and I blog at TheYoungRetiree.com! I'm from Virginia, but live in Southern California!
Most recently, I have been caught with the windows down blaring "Benny and the Jets"! I used to hate the song, but now, I just can't get enough of it!
I'm not really a lurker, but I'll still introduce myself :)
I'm Jess. I go to school right now in Lynchburg, Virginia (the 'Burg), but I'm from Richmond, Viriginia (RVA).
My blog is flawless77.blogspot.com. I have been mia for a while, but I'm getting back into it. Actually going to do a photoshoot in just a few short hours :)
and I right now I love Miike Snow, especially Paddling Out!
I'm a total blog lurker, so bad. But I usually comment on your posts, most times anyways, so feel the love! :P
Yeah, I lurk. But I know you so I tend to lurk less here.
You know I can't resist belting to Walk the Moon. I love when I happen to be in the car and they decide to play Tightrope on Sirius radio!
I am not sure if I've commented on one of your blogs before but always enjoy what I read.
My name is Alyson, I live a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, PA and my site is acornmanphotography.blogspot.com
And I LOVE Florence + The Machine's Breath of Life from Snow White. I can't help but turn it up and try to sing along:)
Thanks for posting the link to get a Wordpress comment photo. I hate not having one!

I used to be less lurker ish, but these days I am the worst! I found myself nodding a lot when you said you leave tabs open for hours- that's me! A lot of times I just don't have the brain space to formulate the kind of comment that I want to leave, and then I wind up getting frustrated and giving up. Isn't that lame? And when I do comment, it seems like I'm almost always behind (see me commenting on this post a week after it went up?)
Thanks for linking to my post! :)
