so...in yesterday's post I was a bit of a cranky pants.
I love all of you who commented with such positive things [like that I was so articulate in making my points - ha!], but let's face it - I felt like a cranky pants as I was writing that semi-rant. so now I want to follow-up with something that's a bit friendlier.
granted, it still kind of fits into that sexual health category, but oh well. it's a huge, important topic in life.
I recently discovered Laci Green and her YouTube channel, and I want to share because I find her work so inspiring. Laci is a peer sex educator who covers a wide variety of topics in her video blogs - from birth control and safe sex practices to body image to relationships to sexuality and gender issues...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. she covers issues from both a scientific/biological standpoint (like the anatomy of male and female reproductive parts) and from an emotional point of view (like how to know when you're ready to have sex). I binged on A BUNCH of her videos over the weekend, and now I feel so empowered! I especially admire Laci's attitude towards being a woman - I know I definitely tend to get caught up in the period hating//shame in particular, and don't take enough time to appreciate my body for all the wonderful things it can do. Being female is not a shameful thing, and we deserve to be treated better - by both ourselves and by others.
so thank you, Laci, for encouraging me to be more comfortable in my own skin and for inspiring me to be more vocal in the fight over sexual health rights.
ps - in case you're interested in learning a bit more about the awesomeness that is Laci Green.
pps - I promise, I'm going to try to write my next post about something non sex-related. I know it's a subject that a majority of people are still not comfortable discussing.

I know this is easy for me to say on someone else's blog, but WHO CARES if people aren't comfortable discussing health-related sex things? I'm not comfortable discussing genocide, but we have to do it to make the world a better place.
Isn't it weird how for the most part, the blog world just ignores sex?
If I'm chatting with a bunch of my girlfriends it normally comes up but on the blog? Never.. it shouldn't be uncomfortable, it's such a healthy, normal part of everyday life and yet.. I feel weird bringing it up on my blog because nobody else does and I don't want to be 'that' girl. But what? 'that girl' who has sex with her fiance? it's hardly a crime!
I've actually enjoyed your past two posts, it's nice to read something different!
I just watched 7 of Laci's videos. Fantastic.
Thanks for "introducing" me to her- I'm off to pass on some of these!
I LOVE the introduction of Laci Green. I love your blog. It's a new experience for me, but I love the underlying feminist theme going on here. It's great. Thanks for writing.
Laci is amazing! Definitely need more open minded people in this little world :)
